In 1971 Len Evans built the original Rothbury Estate to make premium wines that reflected their regional origins. This wine is made from small parcels of premium Merlot from South Eastern Australia creating a soft velvety easy drinking style. Playing an integral role in the traditions of Rothbury Estate, the "Vintage Bell" was hung in 1970 on the east wall of the Winery and is tolled by the chief Winemaker to announce the commencement and completion of each vintage.
